Is it possible to use stem cells to regenerate aged organs? How can hybrid materials revolutionise current technology? It is possible to diagnose dementia with a simple blood test? These are just some examples of the questions that will be answered by the researchers who have been recognised in the awards ceremony of 2019 Fellowships and Grants for Research and Innovation.

Seventy-nine pioneering challenges with a major social impact, divided into three different programmes supported by ”la Caixa”: postdoctoral fellowships, in order to attract and retain the best research talent; the call for applications for health research projects, and the CaixaImpulse transfer programme.

The ceremony was presided over by Isidro Fainé, president of ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation; Jaume Giró, CEO of ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation; Javier Solana, member of ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation’s Board of Trustees and Expert Advisory Council for Research, and Pedro Duque, the Spanish Government´s Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities.
